Highway C to close for church procession
Highway C in Delafield will be closed from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Sunday for a procession honoring Christ the King Lutheran Church's 60th anniversary. The procession will travel from the church's original location on Wells Street downtown to the church's current location at Highway C and West Shore Drive.
The walk will include the carrying of a replica of the old church to its present site, accompanied by Christ the King children and youth, All God’s Children Preschool students, and Boy Scout Troop 20, led along the parade route by the sanctuary choir and a costumed actor portraying Martin Luther. The Color Guard and Pipe Band from St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy will also participate. The procession concludes with a car carrying former Christ the King pastor Paul Christenson, who was pastor during the building of the present church in 1967. The procession will enter the church in time for the 10 a.m. worship service of music, remembrance, and thanksgiving. Trumpets and the "town crier" will announce the arrival of the participants as they enter the church to bagpipes. A luncheon will follow the service at 11 a.m.
