Avoid cavities and save $

Pewaukee Dental will host its third annual Halloween candy buyback from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1. Dr. Mike Schneidler is offering $2 per pound along with goody bags, toothbrushes and toys for unopened candy with "no bites."

The candy and other donated items, such as Beanie Babies, are shipped to military men and women deployed in harm’s way. Last year more than 75 kids participated in the buyback and more than 550 pounds of candy was collected and forwarded to Operation Gratitude to help support troops oversea. According to Pewaukee Dental, many service members have said that they give the candy and stuffed animals to local children, who in turn provide information on where IED’s (bombs) are hidden. As one stated: "Not only are you putting smiles on our faces, you are saving our lives." Visit for a list of all the items the military can use.
