Council approves purchase of land eyed for downtown redevelopment
City of Oconomowoc Common Council Tuesday night approved the purchase of two parcels of land on Wisconsin Avenue across from City Beach and the new community center.
While officials have not entirely disclosed what they hope to do with the land, they have said it fits within the newly adopted design guidelines for this area. The guidelines encourage higher density, mixed-used commercial-residential development that would compliment the downtown area.
The city is paying approximately $550 for the parcels. City Administrator Diane Gard said downtown tax incremental financing district funds would be used to pay for the properties.
