Mass casualty training planned for Saturday in Delafield
The City of Delafield Police Department and Lake Country Fire & Rescue will conduct scenario of a school shooting at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 21, on the grounds at St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy (SJNMA).
The focus of this training will be used to enhance public safety response should an active shooter incident occur locally, as well as enhance inter-agency cooperation and communications. Local responders will be tested on the lessons learned by all the agencies that responded to the Columbine shooting almost 13 years to the day in 1999.
Responders will train as if it were a real incident and have asked for assistance from all local communities, including law enforcement, fire and emergency medical systems, hospitals and media. Flight for Life and UW Medflight will transport patients to Oconomowoc Memorial, Aurora Summit and Waukesha Memorial hospitals.
