KM, Arrowhead and Hamilton ranked top in nation

Newsweek has ranked three area schools among its top 1,000 nationwide for 2012. Kettle Moraine ranked 459th while Arrowhead was 510 and Hamilton at 973 according to information from Newsweek's The Daily Beast.

Newsweek's recenlty released list of America's Best High Schools 2012 it says, "highlights the best 1,000 public high schools in the nation — the ones that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready grads."

Kettle Moraine issued a press release Tuesday to announce the news. Superintendent Patricia Deklotz shared her excitement.

"The Newsweek recognition is one of several recent acknowledgements of Kettle
Moraine School District and the transformational practices that are making a
difference. It is a strong affirmation of the culmination of learning and experiences
that occur in and outside of our classrooms," Deklotz said.

Newsweek ranked the schools based on data submitted by school officials, graduate rate and test scores among other things.

Watch for more on this story.

  1. Seriously, did you even look at the list...brookfield, new Berlin, and cedarburg ranked higher and I believe they are area schools.
  2. Seriously, did you even look at the name of the newspaper... KMH, Arrowhead, and
HHS are all Lake Country schools. New Berlin, Brookfield, and Cedarburg? Not so
    much.
  3. Jsonline.com has the story hence new Berlin, brookfield, and cedarburg being area schools.
  4. Fair enough - but they just linked to here, so it's really the local little rag's reporting.
  5. Homestead in Mequon ranked ahead of both of those and Shorewood was also on the list. Apparently if you aren't in "Lake Country" the JS doesn't care if you read their paper.
  6. What about Shorewood and Nicolet? They're on the list, too. Don't they count? (Maybe no one cares about schools in Milwaukee County...)
  7. READ THE NAME OF THE NEWSPAPER, Mark - the Journal-Sentinel was merely
linking to this article. Jeez, does anybody know how the internet works?
  8. To sum up the comments......many schools in the area are outstanding......which then hardly makes this news.....but as long as we are going to report it....a big thank you to all the teachers out there for being an integral part of making this happen.
