Oconomwoc sends linemen to help with storm damage in Pennsylvania

City of Oconomowoc - The electric utility has sent a crew of linemen to join at team from 12 Wisconsin communities that are part of the Municipal Electric Utilities of Wisconsin (MEUW).

City Administrator Diane Gard said Utility Manager Dennis Bednarski was contacted earlier this week about sending a crew from the city to join the MEUW team. The linemen left Tuesday afternoon and are driving to Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania they will restore overhead power lines, Gard said.

She said the crews will probably be in Pennsylvania for about a week. The city surveys current projects and needs before approving sending a crew. She said if the city encountered a major disaster crews could be called back, or the city could receive mutual aid from other area utilities.

The cost incurred by Oconomowoc will be reimbursed by Pennsylvania, Gard said.
