Architect files suit for share of Delafield Hotel

City of Delafield - A Barrington, Illinois architect, who invested in the Delafield Hotel and hired Tom Aul as his attorney, has a filed a federal lawsuit against Aul, developer Bob Lang and the Michigan attorney who once owned the hotel.

James Gray and his firm, Cronice & Rose International, claim in the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court that Aul helped transfer the ownership of the hotel without Gray's knowledge or consent.

Gray contends that in 2009 he invested funds and provided professional services to the hotel which at the time was owned by Grand Rapids, Mich., lawyer Scott Rookus who had purchased the building on a land contract from Lang.

Gray alleges that he and Rookus hired Aul to represent them in plans in buy and expand the hotel, but Aul later transferred ownership of the hotel to Rookus and Gray was stripped of all of his ownership rights and interest.
