Davy Creek dredging puzzle continues in Ashippun
Town of Ashippun - The more than 20-year issue of dredging Davy Creek continues to create headaches for town officials. Supervisor James Meyer said the most recent issue is trouble getting documents from the Environmental Protection Agency.
The documents could resolve differing opinions between the EPA and town about who is responsible for the state of the creek. The EPA cleaned up the creek years ago after contamination was left by Oconomowoc Electroplating.
Today, the water is clean, but the creek bed, Meyer says is not in its original state. It needs to be dredged and officials want to see if the EPA can help with it. Meyer said he thinks the EPA originally said they would also dredge the creek which could solve flooding issues that have remained for decades. But the EPA Meyer says, argues that was not the original agreement.
