City reserves liquor license for Fowler Lake Village

City of Oconomowoc - Common Council voted 6-2 to reserve a Class B liquor license for the Fowler Lake Village development proposed behind City Hall.

City Clerk Diane Coenen said the liquor license is necessary to help ensure a successful development of the project that will contain condominiums, retail space and a restaurant.

The Class B license is the only one currently available in the city. Reserving it does open the opportunity for other merchants to apply for a Class C license which allows for the sale of wine only, Coenen explained. She said the city has received requests from business owners on applying for a Class C license.

Aldermen James Larsen and Bob Morgan voted against reserving the license for Fowler Lake Village. Morgan cited issues with the type of project and its location. Larsen questioned if reserving the license for this project would mean no one else would be eligible to apply for the Class B license. The answer was yes.
