City of Pewaukee Sergeant accused of trying to go out with a suspect
City of Pewaukee - A City of Pewaukee Police Officer whose been on paid administrative leave since November is being accused of making use of a police database to get a man’s phone number so she could go out with him and the acting chief is asking she be fired.
While off-duty, City of Pewaukee Police Sergeant Cher Sneider asked an on-duty police officer to use a secure and confidential database which is used to assist law enforcement officers in their investigations to get a man’s phone number who she thought was "hot," according to charging documents. The man, whose referred to as John Doe in the documents, is a City resident with a known criminal history with the Department. In 2008, the Department was investigating John Doe and his suspicion of illegal activity including the potential of illegal drug activity which is information Sneider was aware of, according to the documents. Sneider, while off-duty, then made a number of calls to the man’s home as well as went to the man’s home but did not find him home. Sneider told another officer she had been calling John Doe and going to his house while off-duty in an attempt to get him to go out with her. During an investigation, Sneider denied that she requested the man’s phone number, attempted to contact him for personal reasons and that she wanted to go out with him, according to the documents. According to the charging documents, Sneider also went against acting-chief Dan Meister’s orders and removed equipment from the vehicle of now-former Police Chief Gary Bach, who was on administrative leave at the time. Meister is requesting that the City of Pewaukee Police and Fire Commission terminate Sneider.
