COP police, fire fundraiser raises $15,000 for children's hospital in 6-year-old's memory

City of Pewaukee - A Police and Fire Association fundraiser raised over $15,000 for Children's Hospital in memory of a six-year-old boy who died in a car accident last summer in Pewaukee.

The city’s Police Association and Fire Association held a fundraiser Aug. 22 with a police versus fire softball game, raffles, food, games, dunk tank and silent auction.

The event raised about $15,200 for the Children’s Hospital’s Herma Heart Center, a charity chosen by the family of six-year-old Bryce Dempsey who was tragically killed in a traffic collision in July 2008.

Officials credit the cooperative efforts of the associations, Dempsey family, the Pewaukee Athletic Association, Children’s Hospital and countless donors of prizes and hours for the event’s success. The police versus fire softball game produced a first-time win out of three tries for the police department. The 18 to 15 victory gained the department the coveted traveling trophy.
