Grandmother dies in roll-over accident
City of Delafield – A 78-year-old Oconomowoc grandmother died after the vehicle her 20-year-old grandson was driving rolled over on Highway 16 on Sunday evening, according to Delafield police. City of Delafield Police and Fire Departments responded to the one-vehicle accident just west of Highway 83 at about 5:15 Sept. 20. The woman was thrown from the vehicle and was transported by Flight for Life to Froedtert Memorial Hospital, where she later died. The grandson, also from the Oconomowoc area, was transported to Froedtert by ambulance. His injuries were less severe and his current condition is unknown, according to Delafield police. Names are not being released until the family is notified, police said. The grandmother and grandson were thought to be returning to their homes in the Oconomowoc area. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor. The accident remains under investigation. The City of Delafield Police Department was assisted by the Hartland and Chenequa police departments and the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.
