ULS to host annual barn sale Oct. 1-3
University Lake School will host its 52nd annual barn sale Oct. 1-3 with over 20,000 square feet of shopping, live auction and "famous" ULS apple crisp.
The ULS barn sale will be held Friday, Oct. 1 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A live auction is scheduled for noon Saturday with cars, boats, lawnmowers and more.
About 7,000 shoppers attend the sale each year which features over 40 different shopping departments including infants, hardware, furniture, linens, boutique, toys, electronics and housewares.
In 1958, a group of ULS founding parents started the barn sale which has now evolved into a school tradition. Originally intended to be a rummage sale where new teachers could go and buy household supplies, furniture and clothing, the sale was eventually opened to the public. Today, over 80 volunteers spend the summer working on the barn sale and over 500 people volunteer during the sale weekend. The barn sale attracts visitors from all over Southeastern Wisconsin and beyond and raises over $150,000 annually to help defray tuition costs for students at ULS.
