Pewaukee's Acting-Chief asks for top position
City of Pewaukee - The acting police chief is asking the city’s police and fire commission for a more permanent role in the police department.
Acting-Chief Dan Meister asked the commission to consider appointing him to the position of police chief in a letter addressed to Police and Fire Commission President Mark Millard.
The letter was shared with commission members at a meeting today.
Meister wrote the “hard working, dedicated officers need a chief to lead them; if not for symbolic reasons only” and asked for the opportunity to continue to lead the police department in a more permanent capacity.
Meister wrote that he has been acting chief for over 13 months now, and feels he has proven his leadership abilities in many ways.
“This department has made significant forward strides, and I am committed to keep moving in that direction,” Meister wrote.
The police and fire commission agenda called for discussion and action regarding the correspondence from Meister but at today's meeting members decided to hold further discussion on the matter until a closed session meeting.
