Some charges dismissed, sergeant suspended, demoted

The City of Pewaukee Police and Fire Commission on Monday announced that it has dismissed some charges against Police Sgt. Cher Sneider, but sustained others, resulting in Sneider's demotion to patrol officer and an unpaid, 15-day suspension.
Acting Chief Captain Dan Meister filed charges against Sneider and recommended discipline that ranged from a lengthy suspension up to termination.
The commission based its discipline on Sneider violating department policy and untruthfulness.
The commission found that Sneider violated department policy for asking a subordinate to obtain a man's phone number from a restrictive database, so she could contact that man for personal reason. Then Sneider called and visited the man's residence in an attempt to date him. The man was under investigation by the police department and suspected of illegal drug activity.
The commission dismissed charges that Sneider attempted to have a laptop mount moved from the former police chief’s squad to another squad without Meister’s orders.
Sneider was returned to active duty effective Monday, ending her paid, administrative suspension that began last November. Her unpaid suspension and demotion also began Monday.
