Rep. Rich Zipperer to seek Kanavas' seat

Rep. Rich Zipperer (R-Pewaukee) of the 98th Assembly District confirmed that he will run for Sen. Ted Kanavas' seat for the 33rd Senate District.

Kanavas announced Monday that he would not seek another full term saying he made a promise to serve and has fullfilled that promise. He said he will continue to pursue business and community efforts within his district.

Kanavas said he felt Zipperer would be a good replacement.

"I think he’s a very talented person, and if he was to be elected to the seat, the people of the 33rd would be very well represented."

Rep. Don Pridemore, who serves in the 99th District said he will not seek the seat, but supports Zipperer. Rep. Bill Kramer of the 97th District could not be reached for comment.
