Advisory referendum fails
The possibility of a three-part advisory referendum being added to the City of Oconomowoc spring ballot failed at Tuesday night's Common Council meeting.
The advisory referendum was proposed by Alderman Dave Nold to get a better consensus from residents on whether or not the city should construct a new community center, reconfigure the Lac La Belle boat launch and expand City Beach.
Of the three possible items, the community center and City Beach expansion failed and a motion to reconfigure the boat launch was never made by any of the city alderman.
The issue will not appear as an advisory referendum on the April 6 ballot. City staff will continue to study the project and its feasibility in the future.
