IMPACT school to close

Ten years after founding IMPACT School of Oconomowoc, Rick and Shelly Grothaus will be closing the school as they pursue careers in St. Louis.

According to information submitted Monday, Rick was offered a position teaching students at the college level who want to become teachers, and Shelly was hired to teach history at the middle school level. Rick currently also served as the Wales Elementary School principal.
"We are being led by God to continue our mission of transforming lives in the St. Louis area. We will dearly miss IMPACT School, its students, and families, and Oconomowoc where we grew up and attended school. Our gratitude for the support of the community is heartfelt," they said in a statement.
The school offered a more alternative, hands-on methods of teaching with each student being assessed individually based on their needs.
