Severe thunderstorm warning issued

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning that includes Southwestern Waukesha County, until 4:15 p.m.

National Weather Service doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. The storm was near Milton and moving east at 50 mph, according to the weather service advisory.

People in the path of the storm are encouraged to take shelter on the lowest floor of a home or business. Motorists are cautioned not to drive into areas where water covers the road.

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 7 p.m. for much of Southern Wisconsin.
