Governor appoints new county Circuit Court judge

 

Gov.Jim Doyle announced today the appointment of Kathleen Stilling to the Waukesha County Circuit Court.  Stilling will fill the vacancy created by the election of Judge Paul Reilly to the Court of Appeals.
 
"I have tremendous confidence in Kathy Stilling," Doyle said.  "Her commitment to justice, fairness and respect is unparalleled."
 
"I thank Governor Doyle for this opportunity," Stilling said. "I feel privileged to serve the wonderful people of Waukesha County as a circuit court judge."
 
Kathleen Stilling served in the State Public Defender’s Office from 1981 to 1989 and has been in private practice since 1989 engaged in civil and criminal litigation. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School. 
Stilling is a member of the Waukesha County Bar Association, the State of Wisconsin Bar Association and the Association for Women Lawyers. She is an active volunteer in her local church, Boy Scout troop and community, serving as a guest lecturer in local schools and working with the Coalition for Drug Free Communities. Kathy and her husband, Jerome Buting, have two children, Stephen and Grace, and live in Brookfield.
