Milwaukee Brewers will show support for Jack Bartosz at Thursday's I Back Jack benefit
Broadcaster Brian Anderson will host event, Lucroy, Narron brothers will also appear at Westbrook Church
A fundraiser to support Jack Bartosz, a local boy who has an incurable form of cancer called neuroblastoma, will be held Thursday at Westbrook Church, 1100 Hwy. 83, in Hartland.
The event is scheduled to go from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door and all proceeds go to benefit the I Back Jack Foundation and The Point, a foundation that assists other non-profits in putting on events.
Brewers TV broadcaster Brian Anderson, who is Jack's neighbor in Hartland, is hosting the fundraiser.
Anderson, though, won't be the only person affiliated with the Brewers at the event. He will be joined by Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy and Jerry and Johnny Narron. Jerry is the team's bench coach and Johnny is the club's hitting coach.
There will also be a concert by national Christian singer Josh Wilson.
Jack has gained notoriety in the last couple of years as he was featured on a Wheaties cereal box with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in 2011.
But it's been a rough road for the youngster.
Just before turning 4 years old, Jack was diagnosed with Stage IV, high-risk neuroblastoma in September 2005 after a softball-sized tumor was found in his abdomen. The tumor was wrapped around his right kidney on his adrenal gland and spread to his bones and bone marrow.
In the years since, Jack, now 10 years old, has gone through many rounds of high-dose rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and immunotherapy but has relapsed many times forcing him to continue treatments. The cause of neuroblastoma is unknown. However, it is believed by physicians to be an accidental cell growth that occurs during normal development and forms in the nerve tissue.
Jack's parents formed the I Back Jack Foundation, a public charity organized to support pediatric oncology research, in 2006.
In addition to this fundraiser, the I Back Jack Foundation has put on an I Back Jack 'Back to School' golf event and dinner the last three years.
The fourth annual event will be at noon Monday, Sept. 10 at the Chenequa County Club in Hartland.
