Hartland couple gifts $2 million to Waukesha Memorial Hospital
Donation will renovate all 16 surgical suites
A Hartland couple has pledged $2 million to help fund a renovation of all 16 surgery suites at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.
Edwin and Elfie Gallun's gift will fund the project over the next two years, according to a news release from the ProHealth Care Foundation. The project will include state-of-the-art surgical equipment and advanced technology such as high-definition camera systems for use with endoscopic procedures. The surgery center at the hospital will be named the Edwin A. Gallun Jr. Family Surgical Center.
"The improvements will optimize workflow in the operating room, and the new technology will match the skills of our surgeons in enhancing the lives of our patients," said Dean Rein, executive vice president of ProHealth Care Foundation.
"Most of us will need to have surgery at some point in our lives, and when we do we want the comfort of knowing that our hospital has the most-sophisticated surgical facilities available," said John Robertstad, president of ProHealth Care's hospital division. "We are grateful to the Galluns for helping make these advancements available to our patients and our community."
Waukesha Memorial is a tertiary care center where about 10,000 surgical procedures are performed each year, including heart, orthopedic, general/vascular and neurosurgery procedures. The hospital's leading-edge surgical capabilities include minimally invasive procedures, robotic and robotic-assisted surgery and robotic radiosurgery.
The Galluns, owners of Metalcraft in Mayville, have supported multiple medical advancements at ProHealth Care. Their gifts have helped fund the purchase of Waukesha Memorial Hospital's da Vinci robotic surgical system and the CyberKnife robotic radiosurgery system, as well as expansion of the hospital's neonatal intensive care unit. The Galluns also have supported AngelsGrace Hospice, ProHealth Care's residential hospice in Oconomowoc.

"Many in our community have experienced better care because of their generosity, and many more will directly benefit from their latest gift."
