Pewaukee man charged in heroin/cocaine death
A Pewaukee man was charged last Wednesday in Waukesha Circuit Court with first-degree reckless homicide after the alleged cocaine and heroin overdose of Hao Wang, 22.
Colin Kincaid, 22, could face 40 years in prison and up to $100,000 in fines if convicted of the felony.
According to the criminal complaint, Village of Pewaukee police officers were dispatched to 1324 Sunnyridge Road just before 9 a.m. May 16 for a medical emergency. They found Wang lying face up on the floor, unresponsive and with no pulse. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Waukesha County Medical Examiner's Office said that the official cause of death was heroin intoxication.
The complaint stated that drug paraphernalia had been found in the room where Wang was found dead; it tested positive for both cocaine and heroin.
Wang's roommate told police that the two returned home from work at Asiana the night before and drank a few beers before Wang brought out a white powdery substance.
The roommate told police that he only ingested a small amount and did not know what it was whereas Wang used about five to 10 times more of the substance, according to the complaint.
That morning, the roommate found Wang lying on the floor, his body cold to the touch.
Another friend and co-worker of Wang's told police that she knew he had been involved with cocaine, heroin and marijuana, according to the complaint. She added that Wang told her in the past that he gets drugs from someone inside the same apartment complex, the complaint said.
The complaint noted that police found that the man in question, Kincaid, had called in a possible overdose just the day before, May 15. He is said to have told the dispatcher that he was driving his girlfriend to the hospital because she had possibly overdosed on opiates.
The complaint says that officers found a contact matching Kincaid's number on Wang's cell phone, listed under the name "Good." There were text messages reportedly found between the two discussing a drug transaction. The most recent messages showed that Wang told Kincaid "That s*** is good" before asking for "another 40" for his friend.Kincaid, who also worked at Asiana some time ago, told police that Wang had been known to use cocaine, ketamine and crystal meth but denied seeing Wang for months, according to the complaint.
But other witnesses told police that they had seen the two with each other May 15. Additionally, another co-worker told police that Kincaid's girlfriend had said that he sells heroin, cocaine and pills and that Wang had bought heroin from them - Wang's portion had usually been cut because it was potent and they did not want him to take it all at once, overdose and die, according to the complaint.
Kincaid's initial appearance in court is scheduled for Dec. 20 at 2:30 p.m.
