Hartland dad accused of giving pot to kids
Village of Hartland - A 39-year-old Hartland man has been charged with maintaining a drug trafficking place and possession of drugs after someone called police to say the man gives marijuana to his sons and their teenage friends.
According to the criminal complaint filed Feb. 6 in Waukesha County Circuit Court, Hartland Police searched Joel Jamieson's home in the 800 block of Imperial Drive, on Sept. 4, 2012, after obtaining a search warrant based on a tip. The complaint said police found drug paraphernalia and 21 packages of Suboxone strips. According to drugs.com, Suboxone is an opioid similar to morphine.
Jamieson admitted to police that he, his wife and children use marijuana, according to the complaint. It said Jamieson said he and his wife smoke marijuana every day, and that he and his wife "turn a blind eye to our children smoking marijuana," because they would rather they use the drug close to home so they know where they are and they don't get into other problems, the complaint stated.
Jamieson also told police, according to the complaint, that his kids usually smoke in a shed in the backyard. He said they once started to grow a marijuana plant in the shed, but after the police began coming to the house for various complaints, he told them to clean it out, the complaint said.
He denied selling marijuana to his children or their friends, stating his children have to use their own money to buy their own marijuana, the complaint said. Jamieson said he has a prescription for the Suboxone, and police asked him for proof of that, the complaint said.
He is charged with a felony count of maintaining a drug trafficking place and two misdemeanor counts of possession of paraphernalia and a controlled substance. His initial appearance is Feb. 18. If convicted, he could face more than $10,000 in fines, driver's license suspension and more than three years in jail.

graders tip and raids a house for selling drugs yet finds 0 drugs. This is ridiculous
and crazy how it even made it to court, 0 evidence. Detective Harper is a corrupt
cop, no body likes that guy, including half the police force.

Sorry that you too were a victim of the corruption in the suburban police force. Me too. And being a pain patient also I have sympathy for you too. I think that is why we are targeted, especially considering that these jerks now have access to a list of all of us! I apologize for judging you unfairly. The reporter could use a lesson in pharmaceuticals. I wish you the best of luck and hope that you don't go to jail for a frame job like I did a la Hales Corners!

If it is in fact the real person that is writing in this forum, I would suggest you do not write anymore about your situation. Legal issues are complex.
There is a problem with drugs in high schools and if parents don't have full control at home they need to protect OTHER kids that will be influenced or potentially harmed. I've heard there is a lot of bragging going on (from some kids in your area) about using drugs at people's HOMES. It is not right.

marijuana. The hartland police department is the most lousy police force i have
ever heard of. They some how have nothing to do except harass people for
marijuana.. look how many people die from alcohol related causes in Wisconsin.
If this father was really letting his children smoke marijuana at his home i
commemorate him. don't forget our law that allows children under 18 to drink
with their parents. i do think that alcohol is way more harder then marijuana, ive
seen to many people get addicted to alcohol and some of the side effects are
horrendous. 4 out of 10 violent crimes involve alcohol, while marijuana 1 out of
10 while under the direct influence of marijuana . 0 deaths due to direct use of
marijuana 586 deaths from secondary that means another drug contributed to
death mostly heroin, ALCOHOL and PRESCRIPTION DRUGS. The cost of the
enforcement of marijuana 56 billion dollars alcohol enforcement 50 million.
America always seems to find a scape goat for anything that big happens and to
lake country reporter nice job reporting on a such small news story and then
make it top headlines , then to give this guy horrible reputation is uncalled for. It
is pathetic, you have nothing else to report on but this. Congratulations Lake
country resdients, police officers, reporters and court officials you have put a
huge dent on the war of drugs, you guys should be proud while others are dying.
Im so glad all my money taken out my paychecks is going to this wonderful
cause. america is so backwards on some things.
LEGALIZE IT ALREADY
JRWOakCreek - Feb 20, 2013 2:16 AM
If you and other readers want marijuana legalized you need to contact your elected representatives in Madison and in Washington, D.C. Right now is actually a great time to do so sice public sentiment appears to generally be on the side of legalizing weed. In the November 2012 election, two of three statewide marijuana legalization referendums passed. Granted all three were in states with statewide intiative legisalation, something not available to votes in Wisconsin.
One big argument in support of legal pot is that it's sale can done through licensed places of sale very similar to alcohol and legal weed can be taxed similar to cigarattes. This form of legal sale could provide Wisconsin and municpalities much needed additional VOLUNTARY tax money. This would be a voluntary tax since only those who chose to smoke weed would be paying the tax.
JRWOakCreek - Feb 20, 2013 2:20 AM
There is no reason pot cannot be regulated and sold in a licensed mannor similar to alcohol with taxes on it similar to the taxes on cigarettes. Those taxes like the taxes on smokes would be a VOLUNTARY tax. After all, smokers chose to smoke and thus smokers voluntarily chose to pay the tax on cigs.

The police are almost always manipulating their reports to justify their position. This is why you should always not speak until a lawyer is present. If a pipe and bong were thrown into the trash as was told in the beginning, then how could they state the parents condoned such activities to allow their children. Wisconsin is way behind the times in many ways, this shows in their politics and laws. They need to get more progressive like other states; Colorado immediately comes to mind.
This is just another story of police corruption, media bias and the public's inability to see through it. Grow up Milwaukee!
