Finley's house up for auction

Waukesha - Former Waukesha County Executive Daniel Finley's house in Okauchee will be going on the auction block later this month.

Finley's house has been foreclosed on and the property at N53 W34296 Highway Q will be auctioned by the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department Feb. 20.

Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Donald Hassin July 12 ordered a default judgment on the property as the couple failed to answer a foreclosure suit filed against them by Associated Bank in May.

According to court records, the couple stopped making monthly payments of $5,432 on a $1.2 million mortgage in December, 2010. The Finleys now live in Dana Point, Calif.

The Finleys did not respond to the foreclosure suit. In Hassin's ruling, the judge said along with the $1.2 million principal owed, the Finleys also owe $23,914 in interest through June 28, plus $1,810 in late fees, $1,850 in attorney fees and other assorted charges, resulting in a total of $1,229,136.

The house is being sold by The Weber Group, which is asking $999,900 for the house. The Finleys bought the 3,500-square-foot house in 2003.

Dan Finley served as county executive from 1991 to 2005.

  1. So he will walk away and leave the bank, shareholders holding the bag?

When he and his wife were both working.....

    ......

Dan Finley, meanwhile, will still be knocking down $196,000 a year at the
Milwaukee museum and holding down the couple's $1.3 million Okauchee Lake
    property.

"Our long-term plan was to retire to So Cal, so this accelerates things," wrote
Finley in his e-mail. "A great deal depends on what we do with the lake house."

So for now, the two will do what Finley calls a "bicoastal lifestyle." She comes
here for Thanksgiving. He heads there for the other holidays. No word on where
he celebrates his 52nd birthday Dec. 30.

It's the kind of long-distance marriage that Finley's friend and former chief of
staff, Susan Dreyfus, also 52, has come to know. She said spending weeks away
from her husband, Waukesha County Circuit Judge Lee Dreyfus, was the hardest
part of her new job as secretary of the Washington state Department of Social &
    Health Services.

    I caught the Dreyfuse
  2. Its the American way. Get and spend big bucks and let others hold the bag and eat your losses. Maybe Dan didn't really such a big house after all. Shamefull!
  3. Dan, Dan, Dan.. how embarassing! Karma will catch up to you sooner or later for the things you have done, and probably continue to do. you have 48 more states to run to when you mess up out in California.. Happy Trails to you...
  4. Have you no conscience Finley?
  5. I missed in the story where it says the Finley's don't have to pay the difference between the auction price and the balance+ interest.

Sounds like no one is immune to the Barney Frank housing debacle.
