Woman allegedly rams mom's house

Oconomowoc - A 31-year-old woman was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court with allegedly driving her car into her mother's house while intoxicated on Jan. 19 and then fleeing the scene.

Julaine S. Ostrowski, 1241 S. Waterville Lake Road, was charged on Jan. 21 with driving while intoxicated, her fifth offense since 1997, felony criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.

According to the criminal complaint:

Ostrowski allegedly got into a physical argument with her mother over her ability to drive, despite being intoxicated. The defendant's mother refused to let Ostrowski leave with her two children. The defendant's mother told police she "wrestled" the two children away from Ostrowski and locked them in an upstairs bedroom.

Ostrowski then allegedly got into her green Chrysler minivan and rammed it into the side of the house, causing an estimated $5,000 in damage. She then fled the scene.

Waukesha County Sheriff's Department pulled Ostrowski over on Lisbon Road in Menomonee Falls. The officer said the Ostrowski's eyes were glassy and bloodshot and her speech was slurred. The front bumper of the vehicle was hanging off and the right quarter panel was missing.

She registered a .184 on a breath test, twice the legal limit, and was placed under arrest. If convicted of all charges, Ostrowski could face up to 10 years in prison, $21,000 in fines, or both.

Ostrowski's next expected court appearance is Jan. 30.

  1. I sure hope the DA requests that family court interviens to remove those poor kids from this angry drunk before we read about her next drunken road trip, and the 2 funerals (or more) to follow. Maybe killing her kids will make her hit rock bottom. It seems Grandma is one very smart, wise woman, who will do what it takes to protect them from her. They would have a much better future living with her for sure.
This is yet another example of the need to drastically improve our consequences for drunk drivers. This "mother", for lack of another word, was more than likely already drunk when she went to Grandma's to pick up her kids. This woman has a long history of drunk driving, far more than just the 5 times she was actually charged and convicted of. Clearly, she didn't use any of those to wake up and shape up, and most likely won't this time either.
  2. Very sad and I feel sorry for the kids and thank God that Gramma is there for them. This woman definitely needs help and I hope this is her wake up call.
