Meyer to play 100 holes for charity
For the third year in a row, golfer Carl Meyer of Hartland will attempt to play at least 100 holes of golf at Chenequa Country Club to benefit Hire Heroes USA on Sunday, July 4. This year, Meyer will be joined for part of the day by one of the veterans that Hire Heroes USA is working to place into a new job as he transitions from his military career to a job in the civilian workforce.
Staff sergeant John Matter, a Marine sniper and recipient of three Purple Hearts, will ride along with Meyer during part of his long golf day.
Meyer's 100 Holes for Our Heroes has two functions every year. First is raising awareness for the four-year-old charities mission and raising money that will directly help place veterans like Matter into a first civilian job.
It costs Hire Heroes USA about $2,000 top place one veteran into the civilian workforce. There is no charge to the veteran or the employer for this service. This year's goal has been set at $100,000 so the group can place one veteran per week for one year into a job.
For more information or to make a donation, call Meyer at (262) 966-0191.
