Johnson's goal a winner for AHS
Arrowhead's varsity boys hockey team broke a 2-2 first period tie by scoring a goal just 45 seconds into the second period, and that proved enough to defeat visiting Janesville on Tuesday night at the Mullett Ice Center, 3-2.
The win improved AHS to 11-10-1 on the season. Janesville fell to 12-9.
The game-winning goal came from senior Jared Johnson. Janesville grabbed a 1-0 lead before the Warhawks scored back-to-back goals in the first stanza. Sophomore Nick Peterson had the first goal and Johnson scored on the power play five minutes later. Brett Stapelfeldt and Sam Dvorak assisted on Peterson's goal and freshman Tristan Rostagno had the assist on Johnson's score.
Arrowhead had 35 shots on goal and Janesville had 20 shots. AHS goalie Tim Routes had 18 saves.
AHS will play against Fond du Lac St. Mary's Springs on Saturday at the Blue Line Family Ice Center at 1 p.m.
