KM girls rally, fall short in OT at Milton

Lasers battle back to force tie, run out of gas on road

Kettle Moraine trailed by 12 points (37-25) heading into the fourth quarter Tuesday at Milton, but the Lasers wouldn't leave quietly.

KM battled back to tie the game, sending it to overtime, though in the end, Milton came out on top 51-42.

Milton didn't score from the field in the fourthquarter, managing only three free throws.

"Our defense really was incredible in the fourth quarter," Lasers coach Janine Emmer said. "The girls played extremely hard in the comeback. In overtime, it was just a case of our team running out of gas."

The Lasers (3-3) played without senior forward Olivia Weber again due to a high ankle sprain injury.

Junior forward Linley Achtenhagen led the team offensively with 13 points, which included a 5 for 5 effort at the free throw line. Sophomore forward Lindsey Weber had 9 points, and junior guard Meghan Lewis scored 8 points. Junior guard Jordan Fink scored 6 points for the Lasers.

"Morgan (junior forward) played great. She rebounded consistently for us all night," Emmer said.

Alex Harris, a freshman just called up to the varsity level, went 4 for 4 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter, helping her team's cause.

On Friday, the Lasers host Waukesha South in a Classic 8 Conference game. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
