Lasers win shootout against rival South
Finally, a victory for the Kettle Moraine varsity boys basketball team.
After losing seven consecutive games, the Lasers delivered a strong offensive showing last Friday night and defeated host Waukesha South in a Classic 8 Conference game, 75-72.
The victory improved the KM record to 5-11 on the season and 3-7 in league play.
Both South and Kettle Moraine finished with a flurry on Friday. South ended up outscoring the Lasers in the fourth quarter by a wild 31-30 margin. KM outpointed the Blackshirts in the second half by a 48-46 margin.
Sophomore Paul Miller had a big game for Kettle Moraine, firing in a team-high 23 points.
Kettle Moraine enjoyed some of its best scoring balance of the season. Besides Miller, they also got 12 points from sophomore Luke Ferranti, 12 from senior Jon Galando and nine from junior Beck Chase. Junior Mike Ottusch chipped in with seven tallies.
The Lasers converted 27 of 39 foul shots compared to 13 of 24 free throws for the Blackshirts.
