LCL wins at Beaver Dam
Cal Swanson scored 20 points on Saturday for the Lake Country Lutheran varsity boys basketball team in its win at Beaver Dam Wayland Academy 59-54.
Jacob Demman had 13 points for the winners and Kyle Bahr tossed in 8 points. Jacob Emery and Tim Bahr each chipped in with 5 points for Lake Country Lutheran (4-9 overall and 3-4 in the Midwest Classic Conference).
"The Lightning did not lead in the game until just over four minutes to go. We went up 49-48 on a great pass from Kyle Bahr to Cal Swanson," Lightning head boys basketball coach Cole Braun said. "The Lightning pushed the tempo all night long and when they went into a full-court trap midway through the fourth quarter, they were able to create a couple turnovers that led to the run."
Lake Country Lutheran was 7-for-16 at the free throw line, an area that's been a concern for Braun.
"Not making free throws will certainly cost a team a game or two during the season," Braun said. "Tonight could have been that night. We were fortunate that our defense was strong enough to secure the win."
