Lots of questions, not many answers

There are hundreds and hundreds of questions in the world of sports today and not a lot of answers. Here are a few of the questions.

Who's the best college football team in the country? Is it Alabama? Or could it be Oklahoma State? Or is it USC?

Wouldn't it be great to see the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers clash in the NFC championship game at Lambeau Field one week from Sunday? How good would that be?

Just how bad are the Milwaukee Bucks? Will Scott Skiles last the season as the team's coach?

Are the Wisconsin Badgers the worst shooting men's basketball team in the Big Ten?

Is there any doubt that the Miami Heat is going to win the NBA championship this season? If they don't win it, who will? Will it be the Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City or the Chicago Bulls?

If you owned an NFL football team, would you want Tim Tebow as your quarterback, or a whole lot of other guys?

Will the NCAA decide to go to a football playoff system within the next five years? What about 10 years?

It's January 12. Didn't all of us think that Price Fielder would have made a decision as to where he's going to play by now? Is the market a lot softer than Fielder thought?

How did guys like Vinny Castilla, Bill Mueller and Ruben Sierra get on baseball's Hall of Fame ballot? Who would even nominate those three guys? Isn't it hard to believe that former Milwaukee Brewers player Eric Young actually got one vote?

Is there any doubt that Peyton Manning, if healthy, will be the starting quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts next season, with or without Andrew Luck? Or will Manning, rather than risk further injury, retire during the offseason?

Now that Montee Ball is returning to the Wisconsin football team, is he the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy next December?

If Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and Tom Brady are clearly the best three quarterbacks in the NFL, who ranks fourth? And how many miles down the list is that No. 4?

Will Badgers football coach Bret Bielema, one of these years, win a big bowl game against a national powerhouse?

Wouldn't Brookfield's Joe Thomas, now an all-pro offensive tackle for the Cleveland Browns, look good in a Green Bay Packers uniform?

Is there any chance that Milwaukee Brewers slugger Ryan Braun wins his appeal with Major League Baseball? Any chance at all?

How in the world is veteran Stephen Jackson of the Milwaukee Bucks on the NBA All-Star ballot?

Is there a serious boxing fan out there (presuming there are some left) that really believes Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. will fight in 2012? Or any time?

How many of you Brewers baseball fans think that they'll repeat as National League Central Division champions in 2012?

Isn't it wonderful when great guy Steve Stricker of Madison keeps winning tournaments on the PGA Tour?

Who's going to win the NCAA men's college basketball tournament championship this year? Will it be Syracuse? Will it be Kentucky? Will it be North Carolina? Or will it be somebody else?

Just how strong of Hall of Fame candidate was Barry Larkin? Or did it help him tremendously to be in one of the weakest Hall of Fame nominee classes in years?
