Two airlifted from accident
Two patients were taken by helicopters from a truck vs. car accident on Lang Road west of Highway 67 in Oconomowoc at about 3 p.m.
The local Flight for Life responded, as well as a medical transport helicopter from Fond du Lac.
The Oconomowoc and Stone Bank fire departments were also on the scene.

- Enjoy live music from the Erik Kanter Trio, The Red, Black and Blues, Jordan Elder, and the Awakening, during the Concert For Eve, 2:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, at the Lapham Peak State Park Summer Stage. Proceeds will help fund a wheelchair accessible van for Eve Karcher, a girl with cerebral palsy.
- Double D's Pub & Eatery in Mukwonago is giving away a free brat or hot dog lunch and offering prizes in a raffle, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, to benefit the Mukwonago Food Pantry.
- Bring a nonperishable food item for the Hartland Food Pantry to Out-N-About in Hartland, 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, and enjoy free refreshments, children's activities, local artwork, and a scavenger hunt, throughout downtown Hartland.
- Help young people help others by raising funds for a youth summer servant trip at Galilee Lutheran Church's carnival, barbeque lunch and car wash, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Lanes closed on I-94 for truck fire
The Pewaukee Fire Department has requested that the middle and right lanes be closed on I-94 in the area of a truck fire east of Redford Boulevard.
The truck is fully engulfed, and may be carrying fertilizer.
Additional ambulance requested
A second ambulance has been requested at the scene of a rollover accident on I-94 at Sawyer Road.
Car fire in Pewaukee
The Pewaukee Fire Department has been dispatched to a pickup truck fire on westbound I-94 east of Redford Boulevard. Further details are not yet available.

Rescue personnel are en route to a rollover accident on I-94 east of Highway 67. Further details are not yet available.
Let the summer begin!
Tomorrow is the official start of summer for the Waukesha County Park System’s six beaches. All beaches will open Saturday, May 30 at 10 a.m.
County beach hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekends, with lifeguards on duty daily.
Waukesha County park entrance fees are $3 weekdays and $5 weekends/holidays. Beaches are included in the park entrance fee. Annual park entrance stickers are available for $25 for county residents, $36 for noncounty residents and $12.50 for senior citizens.

A 31-year-old man has been injured in an industrial accident at Tools Inc., W248 N5500 Executive Drive, Sussex, at about 7:15 this morning.
The man was apparently using a crane to lift a heavy battery from a forklift when the battery swung and struck his leg, according to information from the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department.
Sussex Fire Department rescue personnel responded.
Mukwonago man arrested in Internet sex sting

Bobby Thomas Jones, aka Tom Jones, 66, of the Village of Mukwonago, was arrested in Green Bay on May 12 for allegedly using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and exposing a child to harmful material. Jones serves on the Village of Mukwonago Board of Building and Zoning Appeals.
According to a release from the Green Bay Police Department, the department was contacted April 14 about a computer crime class that was being taught at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. Jones apparently contacted someone in the class who was posing as a 14-year-old girl and began chatting with her online. The conversation turned sexual, and the Police Department set up a sting operation and began the investigation.
Jones travelled to Green Bay where he thought he was going to meet the 14-year-old. Instead, he was greeted by officers and taken into custody without incident, according to the report.
Village of Mukwonago Police were contacted by Green Bay Police to help search Jones’ house, said Lt. Kevin Schmidt.

Village of Hartland - A managing partner of the Legends of Brandybrook Golf Club in Wales is denying reports that he is in the process of purchasing the Bristle Cones Pines Golf Club on the northeast corner of the Village of Hartland.
Several local golf industry sources have said that Jack Gaudion has been in negotiations with John Malec who owns the golf course which is part of the ultra high end Bristle Cones Pines residential development. Reports on the pending sale have been circulating around local golf courses.
Efforts to reach Malec for comment have failed. However, Gaudion said this morning, "you can report that I am not" in the process of purchasing the Hartland golf course.
Bristle Cones Pines has catered to members of the public as well as homeowners in the residential development while its owners have attempted to convert it to a member only course.
Gaudion and his partner Ron Kuhlman have been credited with successfully operating since 2003 the family oriented Wales private club which features tennis courts and a water park in addition to the golf course and large club house. The pair recently took over the Bergamount, another golf course located in a high end residential development in the Village of Oregon near Madison.

Lien levied on Pewaukee City Hall
A law firm has levied a lien on Pewaukee City Hall because its roofer has not paid fringe benefits to employees, according to a letter from Previant, Goldberg, Uelmen, Gratz, Miller & Brueggeman.
Robert's Roofing & Siding Inc. is required to pay the benefits under collective bargaining and trust agreements, according to a letter the law firm sent the city.
The firm estimates the roofing company owes about $50,000 in benefits on the job. "Under state law, the municipality is to withhold a sufficient amount" to pay the claim, the letter said.
Memorial Day in Lake Country

Regardless of the provocation or politics behind each conflict, we owe our thanks to the service men and women who bear the brunt of decisions made thousands of miles away. To the lost, the injured, and those out on the battlefield today, let us salute them with a raised beer, a steamy brat, and a darned spectacular fireworks show.
Memorial Day activities in Lake Country include:
- Veteran's Festival at Village Park in Pewaukee, 4 to 11 p.m. Friday, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday.
- Ceremony and service hosted by the Genesee VFW Post 5270, 1 p.m. Sunday at the War Memorial at Genesee Town Park.

High speed rail press conference Tuesday
Students involved in the Wisconsin Student Public Interest Research Group, (WISPIRG) will stop at Maxim's At the Oconomowoc Depot, 115 E. Collins St., at 3 p.m. May 26 to hold a press conference in support of Wisconsin's proposed high speed rail route.
Forty students will travel from Green Bay to Milwaukee next week some by bicycle through each town to press conference locations. According to a press release from the WISPIRG, students will wear matching T-shirts and carry a giant map of the proposed train route. Events will also include a human-powered train with many people, much like a Chinese dragon costume.
The group will stop at the Downtown Transit Center in Milwaukee and the Brookfield Town Hall before making their way to Oconomowoc.
Gov. Jim Doyle and other top Midwestern officials are seeking $3.5 billion in federal stimulus money for the 110-mph regional rail that would connect Milwaukee to Madison.
Pewaukee call center to add 100 jobs
City of Pewaukee - In bleak economic conditions, U.S. Cellular's recent announcement is a ray of sunshine as it plans to fill 100 positions at its call center in the City of Pewaukee.
"We're in a time that we're able to grow," said Bill Isaac, director of U.S. Cellular's call center in the City of Pewaukee. The center is located at W233 N2095 Ridgeview Parkway.
Openings are for frontline, customer service positions and new hires will receive 6-weeks paid training and be eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits on day-one, Isaac said. Isaac said the position would be ideal for new high school graduates or those recently laid off.
U.S. Cellular was part of a job fair last week with the Waukesha County Workforce Development Center to grow its pool of applicants, and Isaac said they're still looking for applicants. Those interested can apply at www.uscellular.jobs.
The 100 new hires will bring the Pewaukee call center to about 500 employess, Isaac said.

Oconomowoc Legion observes Poppy Day
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 91 of Oconomowoc, has designated Friday, May 22 Poppy Day. Volunteers will distribute the red crepe paper flower in exchange for contributions to assist local veterans and their families. Volunteers will be throughout the city at locations such as Sentry Foods, K-Mart and Stein Garden & Gifts.
The poppy is a worldwide symbol of sacrifice, honoring the men and women who served and died for their country in all wars.
The poppy is also a reminder to the community of the continuing needs and support of our veterans.
Slow, no-wake order lifted
The slow, no-wake order has been lifted on Lac La Belle in Oconomowoc, according to the city.
Pond neighbors file suit
City of Delafield - Margaret Zerwekh's neighbors have filed a lawsuit in Waukesha County Circuit Court challenging a ruling by an administrative law judge that Zerwekh can remove the dam she owns on the Bark River near the corner of Main Street and Mill Road.
The lawsuit argues that Administrative Law Judge Jeffrey Boldt and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources failed to follow state laws and regulations and failed to protect the property rights of the homeowners by issuing a permit that allows Zerwekh to remove the dam.
The neighbors have objected to the dam removal, arguing that it will adversely affect the property values of their homes located along the millpond and deprives the city of a recreational asset.
A lawyer for the Department of Natural Resources predicted the lawsuit could delay the removal of the dam and the restoration of the Bark River "for months" and that it is rare for a circuit court judge to reverse a ruling by an administrative law judge.
