Oconomowoc Rotary BrewFest slated for Feb. 9
A $40 ticket to the annual Oconomowoc Rotary BrewFest buys quite a lot.
It includes appetizers, dinner, desert and a sampling of a wide range of great beers, wines, vodkas and handcrafted sodas.
It solves the dilemma of how to celebrate Valentine's Day, breaks up the winter doldrums by providing some great fun shared with friends and it gives you the chance to discover a new favorite libation.
But, more importantly, the event raises money to support Rotary's charitable causes, both locally and internationally. Half of the proceeds will support local efforts and the other half supports the Polio eradication project, which strives to end the scourge of the disease worldwide.
BrewFest will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, at Olympia Resort in Oconomowoc, and Rotary hopes to have 400 people in attendance.
"This is our seventh year and we have kept the price at $40 every year. We're really trying to keep it an affordable night out for Valentine's Day weekend," explained organizer Megan Welsh.
Twenty-four vendors have signed on to bring an extensive selection of beverages to sample.
"There is definitely something for everyone's taste," she added.
Fellow organizer Mike Herro agreed.
"This year we will have all the local signature brews from around the area, including our own local Sweet Mullets Brewing, bringing some of their best and unusual fermented beverages," he said.
"The beer from around the world table is always a hit with the tastiest beers from overseas; from chocolate beers to chili brews we got them all," he added.
However, if you are not a fan of the brew, rest assured your tastes will still be catered to.
"If you are not looking for beer, this year we have a variety of local craft made sodas, and if you are looking for something a little stronger, we will feature a few new vodkas from Wisconsin.
"As always, our brewers will surprise us and bring something they just brewed up for the event. I am sure they will not disappoint anyone," Herro said.
