NARI offers scholarships

The Milwaukee/NARI Foundation Inc. is offering a scholarship opportunity for students for the 2012-13 school year.

Students enrolling in the following programs may apply for the scholarship: architecture, carpentry, electrical, engineering, HVAC, interior design, landscaping, masonry, Plumbing, or other industry- related curriculum.

The student's schools must be in Dodge, Fond du Lac, Jefferson, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington, or Waukesha counties.

NARI will award 10 one-time scholarships.

Applications, which can be accessed at www.milwaukee narifoundation.org, are due to the Milwaukee/NARI Foundation, P.O. Box 26788, Wauwatosa, WI 53226, by March 1, 2012. Recipient will be notified by March 31. Call (414) 771-4071 for additional information.

County Fair announces headliners

My Darkest Days and Craig Morgan will headline the 170th Waukesha County Fair.

My Darkest Days will play the Miller Lite Main Stage at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 19, and Morgan will play at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 22.

General admission to the Miller Lite Main Stage shows is free with a daily admission ticket to the fair. Fairgoers may also purchase VIP and Elite VIP seating tickets to the Main Stage shows. VIP seating is fenced off directly in front of the Main Stage. Chairs are provided, but seats are not assigned, and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Elite VIP seating includes Fair admission, parking, drink tickets and an assigned seat to the show, only 60 available. Tickets go on sale April 1 on the fair's website, www.WaukeshaCountyFair.com.

For the My Darkest Days show, VIP tickets are $10, and Elite VIP tickets are $50. VIP tickets for Craig Morgani are $15. Elite VIP tickets are $75.

Shining Stars Scholarship auditions

The Wisconsin Philharmonic will host its annual Shining Stars Scholarship auditions on Thursday, March 8, at Carroll University's Shattuck Music Center. Waukesha County students in grades six through are eligible to compete for one of many $250 scholarships. Graduating seniors with the intent to major in music are also eligible for the $1,500 Anthony W. Bryant Scholarship.

All scholarship winners will perform and be honored at an April 17 recital at the Shattuck Music Center. Select Bryant Scholarship competitors and High School scholarship winners will be invited to perform alongside members of The Wisconsin Philharmonic at its season finale concert Une Grande Finale on Sunday, May 6. The deadline for entry is Monday, Feb. 13. Applications and more information are available online at www.wisconsinphilharmonic.org.

The Shining Stars Scholarships are an example of The Philharmonic's steadfast commitment to providing programs that serve the entire community and provide opportunities to help students achieve success and enrichment through classical music.

Try hockey for free

The Mullett Ice Center in Hartland invites boys and girls ages 4 to 9 at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, for a Try Hockey for Free clinic.

The Try Hockey for Free clinic is part of USA Hockey's Hockey Weekend Across America celebration, which runs nationwide Feb. 17-19.

Learn to Skate at Naga-Waukee

Registration for Session 4 of Learn to Skate is at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at Naga-Waukee Ice Arena, or online at www.wisconsinfsc.org.

Lessons are from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. Mondays, in half-hour increments. Session 4 runs from Feb. 27 to April 2.

Session 5 is April 16 to May 21.

Multiskater discounts are available.
