Holiday display sparkles with a million lights
The Country Springs Hotel, Pewaukee, will celebrate the 17th anniversary of Country Christmas, Wisconsin's largest drive-through Christmas lights display.
Presented by Town Bank, Country Christmas opens with a special preview weekend on Thanksgiving night, Thursday, Nov. 22, through Sunday, Nov. 25, then reopens Friday, Nov. 30 through Monday, Dec. 31, on the grounds of the Country Springs Hotel, 2810 Golf Road. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, Saturday and holidays, and 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. Admission is $15 per carload with special pricing for limos and small buses.
Country Christmas features over one million holiday lights displaying animated figures and holiday scenes on a mile-long trail that winds through the woods; "Bearville," with an animated church scene, general store, butcher shop, and sausage factory; Prarieville and old time Waukesha miniature cities; a 200-foot tunnel of 30,000 computerized, pulsating lights; The Streets of Bethlehem, a collection of nearly life-size Fontanini nativity characters featuring shepherds, villagers, and the Christ child, in a tranquil setting; Country Christmas has the only display of this magnitude in the area, a replica of the Pope's personal collection; and Christmas Village, a place where visitors can enjoy hot cocoa or a treat while looking at animated scenes and holiday characters. Guests can also enjoy a working model train display and have their pictures taken in an indoor Christmas scene.
