House of Insurance opens in village's downtown
Village of Mukwonago – If you've driven downtown in the past few weeks, you might have noticed the new business The House of Insurance, next to Espresso Love Coffee and Hairs The Thing salon.
The House of Insurance is an independent insurance agency owned by Michael Cross of Mukwonago. Cross started his business in 1992 and according to the Web site www.thehouseofinsurance.com, Cross began the company with one principle: Do it right.
"We are here to support our community, to grow our business in an ethical way, while taking care of our customers," said insurance adviser Elizabeth Dyba.
The company specializes in commercial business insurance, along with personal auto and homeowners insurance programs. It also offers a variety of personal and business life insurance products, personal and group health and dental and disability coverage.
Cross opened his business in Greenfield, which still serves as the company's main location. Dyba, of North Prairie, explained that Cross, along with Dan O'Heron, opened the Mukwonago location so they could better serve their own community.
Dyba said Cross has lived in Mukwonago for 12 years. She has lived in North Prairie for five years. Both have children in the School District.
"Being from the area, I try to figure out ways to grow our business while helping our community," said Dyba. "I wanted to work with a company that cared as much about its employees and its community as it did about being profitable."
Dyba, who has been with the company for six months, said she is thrilled to work with Cross, who she calls "a great person."
Dyba said they saw a need in the community for an independent representative.
"We have the ability to shop many different insurance companies and find the best coverage for them. We are trying to be very service driven and to be supportive of our local community," she said.
