Pam's Fine Wines plans move to Square

Mukwonago resident Pam Kollaszar has owned and operated Pam's Fine Wines LLC for the past three years. Soon, she'll expand and reopen her business in a new location: the old Stewart's Maytag building in Mukwonago's downtown square.

Kollaszar grew up in Hawaii, where she worked for the Air Force's Noncomissioned Officers Club (NCO Club). While working for the NCO Club, Kollaszar, who worked as a civilian, gave wine presentation,s and soon a passion for wine grew.

When her current location at 716 Village Plaza became available, she got her license and decided to open the shop. Currently, Kollaszar sells limited spirits and a variety of wines and wine accessories. She holds weekly wine tastings, which are free to the public, and offers gift baskets, corporate baskets and even private tastings upon availability.

Once Pam's Fine Wines moves to the square, the business will undergo a series of changes. Although she can now only sell wine, the new shop will feature a lounge and a tavern, where guests can come in and have a glass of wine or beer.

Kollaszar will offer more classes, and the new lounge will feature a specific wine company for an entire week, so customers have a week to enjoy the wines and don' t feel pressured to stop by on a particular day if they're looking to taste the featured wines.

The new shop will host a retail section as well as a bar with pub tables and a lounge with love seats.

The new location will also allow Kollaszar to cross-market with other businesses in the community.

"I really want to help support other businesses in town and really get Mukwonago moving," she said.

Because no food will be served at the new Pam's Fine Wines, Kollaszar said she will encourage guests to bring in their own food from a different area business or have it catered in.

"Customers can call in pizza or whatever," she explained.

Something that won't change with the move, however, is the shop's cozy, comfortable atmosphere, Kollaszar said.

"We're so relaxed about tastings," she said. "There's no wrong or right way to do it. You like what you like."

Kollaszar explained that people often have a misperception of wine shops and wine tastings. They often feel nervous that they're not doing something right, she said.

"We offer a relaxed atmosphere. It's nothing snooty. We want to keep the same cozy, casual atmosphere in the new location. We want it to be very inviting," she explained.

The new shop should be open Monday, March 22, and the Mukwonago Chamber of Commerce plans to host its Business After 5 event there on March 25.

Pam's Fine Wines will be open extended hours, including from noon until 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays. The shop will be open Sunday afternoons as well.

April will serve as the shop's grand opening and will feature a variety of prizes for guests throughout the entire month.
