Help Mukwonago Chief feed families this holiday season

Yule Feed Families drive gets under way

As people sit down to give thanks for the blessings in their life this Thanksgiving, we hope they remember that not everyone is as fortunate.

To help those who are struggling make ends meet, the Mukwonago Chief is conducting its annual Yule Feed Families food drive from Thanksgiving Day until 5 p.m. Dec. 20.

Food and monetary donations will be collected at the Chief office, 111 N. Rochester St., Mukwonago, during regular business hours. Proceeds will benefit the Mukwonago Food Pantry and Kitchen Kupboard. The Chief will match 70 cents for each dollar donated and 40 cents for each food item donated, up to $250 for each pantry. If you write a check, be sure to write it directly to the food pantry of your choice, and not to the Mukwonago Chief.

Watch for updates each week through the end of the drive to see how the Yule Feed Families drive is progressing.

This is a great opportunity for groups or organizations to stretch their own drives by bringing their collections to the Chief to qualify for our matching funds.

Last year, the drive collected $7,445 and 423 nonperishable food items, which were donated to the two food pantries.

Need help? The Mukwonago Food Pantry, 325 Eagle Lake Ave., serves families whose net household income is at or below the federally approved Department of Public Health limits. Interested residents should bring proof of residency, such as a utility bill or phone bill, proof of income and Social Security card to the pantry to sign up and qualify. Families and individuals can receive food assistance every 30 days and can stop in weekly for bread and bakery. For more information about the Mukwonago Food Pantry, call (262) 363-3452.

The Kitchen Kupboard Food Pantry, housed by Mount Olive Church, 211 Main St., Mukwonago, follows the same guidelines as the Mukwonago Food Pantry. It also provides food assistance once monthly and bread once each week. For more information on Kitchen Kupboard, call (262) 363-7224.
