Last chance to donate
Annual food drive runs through Dec. 20
An extremely generous donation from an anonymous donor kicked off donations for Week 3 of Mukwonago Publications' Yule Feed Families food drive, pushing the week's total to $2,100.
Topping the donations for the week was a single $1,000 donation, along with other anonymous donations totaling $475 to benefit the Mukwonago food pantries. The Kitchen Kupboard received $50 from Tom and Jane Kulinski, and the Mukwonago Food Pantry received $50 from Gerald and Susan Alger, both of Mukwonago.
Anich's Liquor and Beer Store donated $100 to each pantry, as did the Sno Snoops snowmobile club. Members of the Mukwonago Bridge Club collected $125 to donate to the Mukwonago Food Pantry as well.
While monetary donations seem to be keeping pace with last year's donations, only a few bags of nonperishable items have been donated so far this year.
Donations have already begun to come in for the final week of the food drive, which ends Dec. 20, but there is still time to help Mukwonago Publications feed families in the Mukwonago area. Bring your donations to our office at 11 N. Rochester St., Suite 3, during regular business hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday. Checks should be written out to the food pantry of choice, either the Mukwonago Food Pantry at 325 Eagle Lake Ave., or the Kitchen Kupboard Food Pantry, which is housed in Mount Olive Church at 211 Main St.
Both food pantries follow income levels at or below the federally approved Department of Public Health limits. To sign up and qualify, interested residents should bring proof of residency such as a utility or phone bill, proof of income and Social Security card to the food pantry.
