Midnight Magic ushers in Christmas spirit in Mukwonago

Mukwonago will be all on board for this year's Mukwonago Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Center's Midnight Magic from 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday, Dec. 1.

The villagewide holiday festival fills the streets with horse-drawn carriage rides, trolley rides, holiday entertainment, fireworks, plenty of shopping opportunities, a crafters marketplace and pictures with Santa.

The event will be highlighted by the 15th annual Christmas parade with the theme "All Aboard for an Electric Christmas" starting at 3 p.m. Parade lineup starts at 2 p.m. at Mukwonago High School and proceeds east on Roberts Street, south on Meadow View, east on MacArthur, south on Highway 83 and east on Washington Avenue, ending at the Mukwonago Community Library.

After the parade, the library will hold a tree lighting along with a silent auction of the Parade of Bears.

Some of the day's highlights include breakfast with Santa at the Phantom Lake YMCA camp from 8 to 11 a.m., a train club layout at 3-D Greenhouses, baseball with the Cream City Baseball Club from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Field Park and a gingerbread decorating contest at the Garden Mart.

Stop at village businesses for Midnight Magic specials, including presentations throughout the day at End of the Leash, a singalong at Espresso Love Coffee, coloring pages and cider at the Mukwonago Chief, carriage rides at Bartles Jewelers benefiting the food pantry and a warming station starting at 4 p.m. by Walgreens.

St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church will provide four live-nativity presentations starting at 4:30 p.m. A birthday party for Jesus and a live nativity will be featured at Brooklife Church at 4 p.m. with other activities to follow as well as a concert by Grace Notes Community Orchestra.

Pictures with Santa will be available at You-Nique Photography from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m.

Education seminars by ProHealth Care will be offered at Park View Middle School in Room 63, which also hosts the marketplace featuring more than 120 crafters this year. The marketplace is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is $2 for adults age 18 and older.

The Mukwonago Chamber is partnering with the East Troy Chamber of Commerce in observance of the 40th anniversary of East Troy's Santa Train with limited advance tickets available for a ride on special passenger trolley cars. The train will leave Indianhead Park at 4 p.m. and from The Elegant Farmer at 4:30 p.m., making several stops before arriving in East Troy, where Santa will arrive by firetruck at Village Square to light the community Christmas tree at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the East Troy Chamber of Commerce, 2096 Church St., East Troy, or the Mukwonago Chamber, 801 Main St., Mukwonago for $10 each or four for $35.

Fireworks, which can be seen anywhere in the village, are set for 9 p.m.
