Big Bend man charged with 7th OWI

Waukesha - A 46-year-old Big Bend man was charged Feb. 6 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with his seventh drunken driving offense.

According to the criminal complaint, Big Bend police were called to the Russell S. Krancki residence, W230 S8945 Clark St., at about 7 p.m. on a report that Krancki had just left the residence after drinking a large amount of alcohol.

Julie Allen, who lives with Krancki, told police she and Krancki had just had an argument about his drinking, and he allegedly punched a hole in a wall and damaged another wall with his keys, the complaint said.

As the officer spoke with Allen outside the residence, a Lexus pulled onto King Parkway from Clark Street, and Allen told the officer that was Krancki, the complaint said.

The car pulled into the driveway,y and Krancki got out and was approached by the officer, the complaint said.

Krancki failed a field sobriety test and was subsequently arrested for drunken driving.

Krancki was convicted of drunken driving in July 1993, November 1998, February 2001, March 2007, April 2005 and October 2006. In the last incident a Waukesha County Circuit Court judge sentenced Krancki to 2 1/2 years in prison and 1 1/2 years of extended supervision.

Krancki is being held in Waukesha County Jail on $25,000 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 16 for a preliminary hearing.
