Swimmers take show out of state
Waukesha South/Mukwonago took its show beyond state borders and came home with some hardware from Cedar Falls, Iowa, winning the 32nd annual Tiger Invite by the slimmest of margins.
Kaersten Meitz, Kayla Skenandore, Abby Jagdfeld and Sierra Follett won the 400-yard freestyle (3:42:18) by nearly 6 seconds in an exciting conclusion, topping second-place Cedar Falls and earning the necessary points to win the meet. The 406 points were just ahead of Cedar Falls (403).
The freshman Jagdfeld, of Mukwonago, also won the 100-yard freestyle in 54.20 seconds and took fourth in the backstroke (1:02.32).
Mukwonago swimmers involved in other top-five finishes include Sara Zemanovic and Casey Skurzewski, who helped the 200 free relay take second (1:44.25). Jagdfeld and Zemanovic helped the medley relay take fourth (1:55.18).
Zemanovic added fifth place in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.09).
South's Skenandore won the 200 free (1:55.17) and butterfly (57.65), and Meitz won the 500 free (5:08.25)
