Mukwonago wins opener

Friday's 23-15 win for Mukwonago marked the second straight year the Indians football team kicked off the season with a victory against Lake Geneva Badger. Mukwonago started the contest on fire, with Cody Novotny throwing back-to-back touchdown passes to receivers Tyler McKeever and Mitch Polk in the first quarter alone.
The start of the second quarter began with a bang as Novotny threw a 68 yard pass to McKeever to put the Indians up 20-0. After a Mukwonago field goal, Badger capitalized on a turnover and scored right before the half, making it a 23-7 game.
The second half pace slowed until the Badgers intercepted a tipped pass, leading to a touchdown. Mukwonago had now given up 15 unanswered points, but wore down Badger with its run game. Novotny threw for 151 yards with 3 touchdowns and also ran for 71 yards. Chris Walker scored two rushing touchdowns for Badger.
