(Zoological Society of Milwaukee, March 2013) –The real thing: Sophia Kicciardi, 3, of Oconomowoc, who loves building model trains with her grandfather, got to see a real train at the Milwaukee County Zoo. She and her family visited the train shop during the Zoo’s Behind the Scenes Weekend on March 9. About 3,800 zoogoers toured areas not usually open to the public during the two-day event held March 9 and 10. Zoo Pride, the Zoological Society of Milwaukee’s volunteer auxiliary, led tours through such areas as the Zoo’s Commissary, train-storage for winter, elk barn, indoor hippo stalls, and Aquatic & Reptile Center.

It is with great pleasure that the Waukesha Choral Union presents the eighth performance in its Fall Community Outreach Concert Series by offering an evening of music inspired by the American experience. On Saturday, October 25, 2008 the Waukesha Choral Union will join voices with those of the Marquette University Choir and the Nathan Hale High School Choir of West Allis to perform an evening of uniquely American choral works. Both schools will also bring their orchestras to the stage. The concert will begin at 7:30 pm at Shattuck Auditorium on the grounds of Carroll University. In keeping with the Choral Union’s season theme of “A Musical Journey”, the event will include songs of traveling, gathering, longing, and searching for home. The concert features Randall Thompson’s choral masterpiece Frostiana. Based on seven works by American poet Robert Frost, Thompson guides us “to take the road less traveled, to keep our promises before we sleep, and to stay our minds upon something l
