Holy bat ride, Batman

Win date with Batman through Haunted Ball

Oconomowoc - How would you spend two hours with Batman? Take a ride in the Batmobile around Oconomowoc?

Bring the Batmobile to your child's birthday party and give every party guest a ride around the block? Organizers of the Oconomowoc Public Education Foundation's (OPEF) Haunted Ball announced that two hours with the Caped Crusader and the Batmobile will be one of several special prizes auctioned off during the charity event from 7 p.m. to midnight Friday, Oct. 21, at the Olympia Resort & Conference Center.

In addition to the bat-outing, donated auction items to date include a pair of Green Bay Packer tickets for the Dec. 11 game against the Oakland Raiders; an outing at Milford Hills Hunt Club in Johnson Creek; front-row reserved seats for Oconomowoc High School's graduation; an outdoor gas-fueled fire pit from Sherpers of Oconomowoc; a woman's leather coat from Lieblang Leather in Delafield; sports memorabilia from Legends of the Field in Delafield; wine from Wine Maniacs, Oconomowoc.

OPEF's Haunted Ball, an "Orange Tie Affair" sponsored by the Oconomowoc Public Education Foundation (OPEF), promises to be a festive evening. Hors d'oeuvres and desserts, cash bar, music by the nine-piece Booze Brothers band, silent and live auctions, wine pull, drawings, cash prizes for creative costumes and plenty of dancing are all on tap. The evening includes music, entertainment and many opportunities to support the Oconomowoc Public Education Foundation with drawings and auctions throughout the night.

Event organizers are still accepting donations for both the silent and live auctions.

Community businesses interested in contributing should call Dee Dee Follo, auction chairperson, (414) 530-0622.

The group is also requesting cash sponsorships to offset the cost of the wine pull and the costume contest.

Donors will be recognized at the Haunted Ball, at Haunted High throughout the month of October, on the Haunted High website, www.hauntedhigh.info, and in all future event communication such as press releases.

Haunted Ball tickets are available online as well as at Betrothed Boutique, 203 E. Wisconsin Ave., Oconomowoc.

Tickets: advance $50, at the door $60, tables of 10 $400. Must be 21 or older to attend.

OPEF is a charitable foundation created in 2007 to allow for private, tax-deductible contributions and to encourage innovative educational opportunities in the Oconomowoc Area School District. OPEF focuses its efforts in three areas: awarding grants to teachers and administrators annually based on criteria determined by its Grants Committee, raising funds for its commitment to the Performing Arts Center Enhancement (PACE) Fund to support enhancements built into the Oconomowoc Arts Center; and managing and awarding grants for the Jennifer Bukosky Fund, a memorial fund that supports alcohol and drug abuse prevention in honor of past Oconomowoc High School associate principal.

ROCKIN' IT - Fred Eide, left, and his daughter Ashley, of Eide Painting and Sandblasting, use spray guns to paint the individual rock shapes on the underside of the I-94 overpass at Highway P in Oconomowoc Wednesday, May 16. Each "rock" is painted individually and then speckled with black paint to make it look like granite.
