Teens face time over bad romance
An Oconomowoc teenager and her friend each face nine months in prison after the teenagers allegedly spray-painted slurs on an ex-boyfriend’s car last November.
Oconomowoc resident Jacqueline J. Gerritsen and Ixonian Amanda M. Beasley, both 19, were each charged on March 28 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with one count of criminal damage to property. The misdemeanor carries a maximum sentence of nine months in prison, $10,000 in fines, or both.
According to the criminal complaint, Waukesha County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a park and ride in the Town of Oconomowoc on August 22 after Gerritsen’s ex-boyfriend, Cody Blehovde, reported the vandalism. The two women allegedly covered Blehovde’s car and windows with silver and blue paint, scratched the doors and broke a rearview mirror.
Blehovde told police he suspected Gerritsen because she often used some of the profane words written on the side of his car while talking about his new girlfriend.
Beasley initially denied involvement in the incident, telling police that Gerritsen had acted alone. Gerritsen contradicted her when talking to police, saying she was involved.
They are expected to make an initial appearance in court on April 15.
