Ski teams dominate
Last Thursday was a golden night for all of the downhill ski teams from Oconomowoc High School.
Taking part in a Midwest High School Conference meet at Alpine Valley near East Troy, OHS skiers won titles in the varsity boys, varsity girls, junior varsity boys and junior varsity girls divisions.
The Raccoons defeated Mukwonago, Muskego, Homestead and University School of Milwaukee.
In the varsity boys competition, Jack Bourdo led OHS by winning the individual competition. John Kopydlowski finished fifth in the field of 30 skiers.
In the varsity girls division, Kelsi Krakauer finished second overall for Cooney, and Audrey Adler placed fourth.
For the undefeated junior varsity girls team, Sara Nicholson won the meet, and Angie Hartman placed fourth and Casey Harris fifth.
In the boys junior varsity race, the Raccoons grabbed the top three individual spots while also adding a fifth-place finish. Colin VonHeimburg took first, Zac Aasen second, Adam Gentle third and Sam Petelinsek fifth.
Oconomowoc is tied for third place in the girls standings behind University Lake School/Lake Country Lutheran/Brookfield Academy, Arrowhead and is tied with Trinity Academy/Germantown.
The varsity boys team is tied for fourth place with Slinger.
They trail league-leading Catholic Memorial, Arrowhead and Kettle Moraine.
Both junior varsity teams also are having good seasons.
The OHS girls are tied with Arrowhead for first place, and the boys team stands alone in first place.
