Hamilton drama to present 'Thoroughly Modern Millie'
Lively musical begins Feb. 11
The Hamilton High School Drama Department is pleased to present its production of the musical "Thoroughly Modern Millie" Feb. 11-14 in the Hamilton Fine Arts Center.
"Thoroughly Modern Millie" is a high-spirited musical romp that has all of New York dancing the Charleston. Taking place in New York City in 1922, "Thoroughly Modern Millie" tells the story of young Millie Dillmount who has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself.
The story is set early in the flapper era of the 1920s. Dillmount's ambition is to find work as a stenographer to a wealthy man and then marry her boss. In both intending to earn her own living and in intending to marry for money rather than love, she is "thoroughly modern" for the 1920s. It's a New York full of intrigue and jazz.
You're invited to come join the fun beginning at 7 p.m. on Feb. 11, 12 and 13 and 2 p.m. Feb. 14 in the Hamilton Fine Arts Center. Ticket prices are $8 adults and $5 students and senior citizens. Special promotions include "buy one get one free" for Hamilton High School students with ID on Thursday.
In addition, the high school is providing free bus transportation to and from the Sussex Community Center and discounted $3 tickets for the Feb. 14 matinee performance for senior citizens. Contact Megan Sackett by Feb. 8 at (262) 246-6447 to reserve a spot and purchase a ticket. The bus will leave the Sussex Community Center at 1:15 p.m.
