Hamilton schools celebrate Youth Art Month
In celebration of Youth Art Month, the artwork of students from throughout the Hamilton School District will be on display during March at the Pauline Haass Public Library, N64 W23820 Main St., Sussex. The public is invited to view the artwork during regular library hours.

Seniors help students in fashion, interior design class Teacher's notebook
Hamilton High School students in Lisa Ray-Christenson's fashion and interior design class got extra helping hands this semester. The high school students were assisted by Hamilton Seniors & Students volunteers Kathy Gentz, Connie DeBruin and Chris Dahlen who brought a lifetime of sewing experiences to the classroom. In the fashion portion of the class, students layout, cut, mark and sew fabric according to pattern instructions.
Woodside students get flavor of Latin music Teacher's notebook
Woodside Elementary School fourth-graders were treated to the South American music of the Andes Mountain region Feb. 27, thanks to the school's involvement with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra's Arts in Community Education (ACE) program.
Maple students use 21st century skills to study Olympics Teacher's notebook
The Olympics had special meaning for Maple Avenue Elementary School fifth-graders who participated in a project aimed at infusing 21st century skills into their studies. The project, "Visiting Vancouver - A Study of the 2010 Winter Olympics," was designed and implemented by writing-technology specialist Terri Manske, who organized the class into four-member teams that selected one winter Olympic sport on which to report.
Lannon students learn and earn during school Teacher's notebook
Lannon Elementary School students are learning through projects that promote 21st century skills including critical thinking, financial literacy, communication skills and community engagement. Fourth-graders in Katie Bernard's class have created a classroom economy in which students apply for jobs, earn a salary, pay for expenses, save money and participate in an end-of-the- year auction.
Charger Corner lauded again for best practices Teacher's notebook
Hamilton High School students who run the school store, Charger Corner, learned that they earned top national recertification and will be recognized at the international DECA conference this April in Louisville. For the fourth consecutive year, the store earned the School-Based Enterprise Gold Certification for its business practices.

The melting snow washing down your sidewalk is a sure sign spring is on the way. The First Day of Spring on the calendar falls on Saturday, March 20 and the greater-Sussex community will be celebrating with Sussex Spring Fest 2010 at Hamilton High School.
